Adeline Ng Lai Choo

This blog entry would be for English Ace Assessment. I would be blogging about my opinion about the teacher in the short story" Adeline Ng Lai Choo" written by Catharine Lim. Sorry that I had only blog about this story after such a long time. Well now, many of you would thinking that the teacher is the" bad guy" in the story, but have you thought that the circumstances she was in when Adeline requested for the one mark? If you cannot do so, just imagine you are a teacher, you have just finish going through the test papers and a girl comes to you for one mark, would you give the mark to her? If you said no, like the teacher, you woke up the next day with your phone ringing, the principal telling you that one of your students had committed suicide, how will you feel? My whole point of blogging about all this is to tell you" It was not exactly the teacher's fault that Adeline committed suicide. If you have any strong disagreement about my stand, please feel free to comment on this blog entry. Thank you for spending your precious time on reading my blog.

Hi, I am Keenan.
I would like to comment on your post. I agree that it was not entirely the teacher's fault that Adeline committed suicide. But, the teacher was partially in the wrong too. She spents a lot of time wiwth Adeline in school. She noticed that Adeline's grades had fell and she always seemed either distracted or nervous. Although she tried talking to Adeline about her problem, Adeline started to avoid her. At that point, the teacher should have told her problem to Adeline's problems.
Thus, I would like to concluded by saying that although it was not entirely the teacher's fault, it was mostly her fault.

Jun Ming, I agree with you that the teacher who marked Adeline Ng Ai Choo's paper was not at fault too. But, in the passage, it says that Adeline Ng Ai Choo's results have been felling but the teacher did not ask what happen to her and let her keep on failing her tests. Adeline's teacher has also saw that she has only a mark to pass her GCE'O levels examination and should give her that mark as the principle said that if there is one more mark to the passing grade, the teacher can grant the student that mark. Adeline's teacher refused so she had to bear some of the responsible too.
Thus, I want to say that although it was not the teachers fault, but the teacher should also stand out and bear some of the responsibility.

Dear Jun Ming,
After I have read your post, want to voice out my opinion. I think that it was partially the teacher's fault but not totally. In fact, the teacher needs to bear only a small fraction of blame as to not realising Adeline is behaving weirdly nowadays. I think that it is Adeline's parents and her fault as Adeline is too conscious of her parents high expectations and her parents should not be so strict. Her parents are too strict and they set sky-high expectations and expect Adeline to fulfill them.

Thus, I think that it is mostly Adeline's and her parents' fault concerning this accident.
